# Block a contact

> What happens when you block a contact in watsi — the agent stops replying to them on every channel and they leave your inbox — and how to unblock them.

**Blocking a contact makes watsi stop messaging them entirely: the AI agent doesn't reply to them on any channel, and they get no follow-ups, campaigns or comment auto-replies.** The conversation leaves your chat inbox, but their messages are still recorded and you can always reply by hand. Use it for spam, wrong numbers or contacts you don't want the agent to handle.

## Block a contact

## What changes

- The agent doesn't reply to them on WhatsApp, Instagram or Messenger.
- They don't get follow-ups, [campaigns](/campaigns/whatsapp-campaigns) or [comment](/campaigns/comment-to-dm) auto-replies.
- Their conversation stops showing in the chat inbox.
- Their messages are still recorded and you can reply manually.

## Unblock a contact

Blocked contacts still show up in [Contacts](/crm/contacts). Find them there, open their conversation and, in the chat panel, click **Unblock contact**. The agent starts replying to them again.

> **Tip**
  If you only want the agent to stay quiet in one chat without removing the contact from the inbox,
  [turn the agent off in that chat](/chats/pause-agent) instead.
