# watsi plans and what a conversation is

> watsi bills per 24-hour conversation answered by your AI agent, not per message. What counts as a conversation, how many each plan includes and what happens if you run out.

watsi bills per **conversation**, not per message: a conversation is a **24-hour** window in a chat where your **AI agent** replied, no matter how many messages are exchanged. Your team's replies, campaigns and automations don't count. Each plan includes a number of conversations per month; if you need more, you buy a top-up at your plan's rate.

## What counts as a conversation

### The agent replies
When your AI agent replies in a chat, a conversation opens and **one** is deducted from your
    balance.
### The conversation stays open
As long as the customer keeps writing without going **24 hours** silent, every agent reply in
that chat is covered by the same conversation.
### A new one opens
If 24 hours or more pass without the customer writing and the agent writes again (for example, a
    follow-up), a new conversation opens.

**Not billed as a conversation:**

- Replies your team writes by hand.
- WhatsApp campaigns.
- Keyword automations and fixed follow-ups.
- Chats imported from your history.

## When they reset

- **Plan conversations** reset at every renewal: the ones you didn't use don't carry over to the next cycle.
- **Top-ups** never expire. They're used after your plan's conversations.

## If you run out

When your balance runs low, watsi warns you. If you run out of your plan's conversations, your agent keeps replying on a **courtesy margin** of 10% of your monthly plan (50 conversations on Plus, 300 on Pro), which is deducted from your next balance. Once that margin runs out, AI replies pause until you buy conversations or your plan renews.

> **Tip**
Turn on **automatic recharge** so your agent never runs out of conversations. See [Usage and
  top-ups](/billing/usage-and-top-ups).

## FAQ

### What is a conversation in watsi?

A 24-hour window in a chat where your AI agent replied. Every agent reply in that window counts as a single conversation, as long as the customer keeps writing without 24 hours of silence.

### Am I charged when my team replies by hand?

No. Only AI agent replies open a conversation. Your team's replies, campaigns, automations and imported chats aren't billed as conversations.

### Do unused conversations roll over to next month?

No. Plan conversations reset at every renewal. The ones you buy as top-ups never expire.

### What happens if I run out of conversations?

Your agent keeps replying on a courtesy margin of 10% of your monthly plan. Once that runs out, AI replies pause until you buy a top-up or your plan renews.
