# Spaces, blocks and breaks

> Use spaces so rooms, vehicles or resources are never double-booked, block time so no appointments are booked, and add breaks to your appointment types or your schedule.

**Spaces, blocks and breaks tell watsi when nothing can be booked: a space is a shared resource (a room, a vehicle to drive customers around, a virtual office) that can't hold two appointments at once; a block closes a specific time; and a break is a fixed slot inside the schedule, like lunch.** The AI agent and your booking page respect all three.

## Spaces

A space can be a **Room**, **Equipment**, **Vehicle** or **Virtual**.

### Create the space
In an [appointment type](/scheduling/appointment-types) form, under **Allowed spaces**, use the
create-space option and type the space's name.
### Assign it to appointment types
Tick under **Allowed spaces** the spaces each type can use.
### See the calendar by space
In **Calendars**, switch the view between the agenda and the per-space view to see each
    resource's occupancy.

> **Note**
A space is never booked twice at the same time, not even when an operator books by hand. If you
delete a space, all its blocks are deleted too.

## Blocks

A block closes a time so no appointments are booked: a meeting, maintenance, vacation.

### Create the block
### Set when
Enter the **Title** (for example, "Maintenance"), pick the date, start and end time, or mark it
    as all day.
### Repeat it if needed
Choose whether it doesn't repeat, or repeats daily, weekly or monthly.
### Choose what it affects
Pick the appointment type it applies to (or **All types**) and the affected spaces. Then click
    **Create block**.

## Breaks

- **In an appointment type:** slots inside the type's schedule where no appointments are booked (lunch, a break). You add them after saving the type.
- **In your schedule:** in your availability, use **Add break** and pick the days and times. See [Team availability](/scheduling/team-availability).
